Street: Valentines Day on Rideau Street

Rideau Street (Ottawa, ON Canada): February 14, 2015

It’s a good a day as any to remind ourselves that not everyone has the luxury of Valentines Day.

The weatherman said that it was -35°C (-31°F for my American friends) yesterday.

Street: On The Canal

24-Jan-2015: On the Rideau Canal

It’s been a while since I made the time to go out and about with the camera and just make pictures, yesterday was a good day for it.

Street: Waiting

29/11/14: waiting

Waiting for “Santa’s Parade of Lights” to pass by.

The weather gods were good to us last night, it was fairly clear and only about -10C (14F for my American friends) so we didn’t have to bundle up to any great extent. A bit of forethought, planning, and a few minutes with Google satellite view got us to a spot where we could park the car with a decent view of the street in case anyone got chilly.

Street: Now I Have Beard Envy

beard envy

I used to have a beard when I lived up north, only in the summer though – in the winter they ice up too badly so it always came off. Someday, when I’m all grey and such, I’ll put one back on and hope it turns out like this guys.

Ottawa Shooting: This is Not an Appropriate Response

As many are aware we had terrorist attack here yesterday, one of the immediate responses has been to shutter the gates of Parliament Hill.

Inside these gates are two large lawns that are often filled with free yoga classes, games of Frisbee, people having picnic lunches or strolling around, and in the winter families building snowmen or warming their hands over The Eternal Flame – today we’re locked out.

If we change they have won – open the gates.
