Black & White: Rideau Canal

Rideau Canal: March 8, 2015

If you look into the background you can see part of the scene I was hoping to capture the other day on the ice. This guy decided that he was a better subject and swooped over to make that point.

Black & White: Beavertail Canteen on the Rideau Canal

Beavertail Canteen on the Rideau Canal (January 24, 2015)

Having a Beavertail and a cup of hot chocolate on the canal is a winter tradition here in Ottawa. Their canteens can be found up and down the length of the Rideau Canal skate-way and at any winter event on both sides of the river.

It’s good to be back at a place in life where I can shoot on at least a semi-regular basis again 🙂

Black & White: Sleep With One Eye Open

My 8 y/o grandson who shares an interest in masks and black and white images spent Friday night and Saturday morning with me. This is one of the three images we made with him helping to direct the shots and guide post-click processing.

This is a low light shot of his eye through the glass of my gas mask.

Black & White: Self portrait in ice (at night)

Coming home on the bus last night I found myself faced with a 20 minute layover at the transit station and when wandering around to see what images there might be to be had noticed my reflection in a window mostly covered in ice.

I’ve already been told that it’s a “dark” image (and not in the sense of ‘hey man, there’s not enough light here‘) but that’s the way it came through and I’m sort of partial to it.
